Singapore - SWAT has partnered with NEC Asia Pte. Ltd. (NEC) to create an app called Ally. Ally leverages SWAT’s on-demand ride-pooling technology with NEC’s artificial intelligence (AI) engine, providing personalised recommendations and the ability to book a shared ride to the selected point of interest. In an interview between Mr Lim Kok Quee, Deputy CEO of NEC APAC, and Mr Jarrold Ong, CEO and Co-founder of SWAT, both parties explain how the collaboration came about, and the future of apps like Ally for the travel and commuter space.

“We felt there was an opportunity for us to get together and create something that can solve two main problems, one which is finding places travellers would like to go to, and the second is actually getting there."

"With NEC’s deep expertise in the retail space, it makes a lot of synergy between the two companies. We are very excited to see where this will take us,”

Mr. Ong says in the interview.

As for future enhancements, Mr Lim sees many possibilities using big data to drive contextual advertisements and location-based marketing, and complementing with augmented reality technology.

“There is really no limit to how far we can take this concept. We are excited to see how we can innovate Ally to revolutionise the retail-on-the-go experience.”

SWAT and NEC plan to take the concept forward.

“We think that this is just the beginning. With the learnings from the World Congress, we want to actually bring this concept to smart city and mobility initiatives,”

said Mr Ong. Both Mr Lim and Mr Ong are excited to see how they can revolutionise the retail-on-the-go experience, and look forward to working together and making Ally the norm for overseas travellers.
