SWAT Mobility has conducted a successful on-demand bus trial in Niigata City with a local bus operator. The routes are optimised, and passengers can hail a bus via a mobile app to be picked up and dropped off at bus stops.

SWAT Mobility Japan GM Masashi Suehiro highlighted that rural depopulation has led to mobility challenges of "infrequent bus schedules and difficulty in getting around without a car".

SWAT Mobility's service can make public transport more efficient and improve road safety, in a positive step for Japan's drive to meet sustainable development goals (SDGs).
